X-man and I hit up The Container Store last weekend – my first trip there since the move (I’m amazed it took so long!). We had our shopping list, measuring tape, and, of course, snacks! He was a trooper and even helped carry laundry hampers across the store.
The main room I worked on was the kitchen, and the first area of attack was the silverware drawer. I don’t even need to explain why – just look at this picture… (more…)

I try to avoid hyper-organization, but sometimes I can’t help myself. What can I say…I’m an engineer and an organizer; there almost always has to be a better way 🙂 I recently turned my process improvement focus to our grocery list. I’ve used a pre-made grocery list for a couple years; it made the grocery list making process a little easier, but I was still feeling frustrated.

Last summer I wrote about my love of lists and how they had gotten out of hand (To Do List: Too Much of a Good Thing?). At that time, I found 18 To Do Lists scattered through the house. My personal To Do List management needed some TLC.
I’m still working on managing everything in my life, but I have found a great tool to help me keep my To Do Lists under control: Workflowy (Workflowy.com). According to the website, “WorkFlowy is the world’s best tool for taking notes and making lists.” I couldn’t agree more. It is the organizing tool that I’m totally giddy about at the moment. (more…)

I’ll admit it – creating the baby registry for the Little Guy stressed me out. I was much more excited about registering for my wedding. Adding wine glasses, china, and bedding to my life was much less of a change than adding strollers, high chairs, baby clothes, bouncy chairs…the list goes on and on! The items on the wedding registry were usually replacing items, but the items on the baby registry were all new items. Thinking about how I am going to incorporate all that stuff into our home added to the stress I am already feeling about having a baby. (more…)
