When organizing a space, I always try to think about how I live in that space. This was tough when setting-up the Little Guy’s room since I’m not sure how we will function in it. I tried to make my best guess and leave room to change things later.

J and I have made great progress on our home project list, but we still had some big ticket items to complete. We know the Little Guy isn’t going to wait for us to finish before he arrives, so there was only one thing for us to do…call in the big gun, my father-in-law, Big J. (more…)

I love making lists. I love to cross completed items off my lists. I will actually add completed items just so I can cross them off. However, you can have too much of a good thing, and I may have reached that point with my To Do lists.
I thought I knew where all my To Do lists were, but while putting finishing touches on the basement last weekend, I uncovered four lists that had gotten lost when I moved the home office to the basement. A list usually reduces my stress level (written down = not forgotten), but finding four extra lists just made me think, “Ugh, more to do that I didn’t have in front of me”. (more…)

The Inefficient Files: When being inefficient makes life more enjoyable.
A common tip to reduce menu planning and dinner time stress is to eat the same thing on the same night a couple times a week. I do not doubt this reduces stress, but it is a little constraining and boring for me. I used to reduce dinner time stress by not menu planning at all; when I lived in Los Angeles, the avocados were so good I lived on guacamole and chips several nights a week. However, this can also get a little boring and isn’t the healthiest of diets. (more…)
